Annual Board performance evaluation is a requirement of good governance. Often it is treated as a check on compliance yet we approach it in a much more powerful way.
Hence our approach to independent Board performance evaluation is to turn necessity into a virtue: whilst we address the areas that governance codes expect, our primary focus is on Board effectiveness in the future rather than the past and present.
Within our process we seek to ensure that the Board’s expertise and experience, particularly of non-executive directors, is fully harnessed so that they can proactively influence the success of the organisation rather than simply reacting to management proposals for decision.
Our evaluation covers a wide range of areas including:
