Capability review
Since its launch by the Cabinet Office in 2005 the Capability Review programme has been designed to assess systematically the organisational capabilities of individual departments across Government with a view assisting future delivery challenges.
In its analysis of aspects of leadership, strategy and delivery, the Government's Capability Reviews are similar to the patterns adopted over some years in our board evaluations and current reality checks.
Yet those areas where the Capability Reviews have shown areas of weakness* match those in which we traditionally have delivered strength to our clients. For example, focus on Board and management board effectiveness, on business planning, on performance management and on actual performance itself.
We can support non-Departmental public bodies with capability reviews that follow the Cabinet Office model, enhanced to take account of the weaknesses recently identified.
